Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections have been growing in popularity in Australia. In previous years, they were performed by specialist Sport and Exercise Medicine Physicians (Fellows of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Medicine) and are now also performed by Musculoskeletal Radiologists and General Practitioners who have a particular interest in sports medicine. The advantage of having your PRP injection performed by a specialist is that they are experienced in the regular use of PRP injections and will be able to integrate your treatment into the continued overall management of your injury including rehabilitation. Your PRP practitioner will advise you specifically regarding ongoing rehabilitation and expectations.
